Ella Hass is a self-taught Danish artist. Her dolls are truly works of art. It has been said that each of her dolls is like a 3-dimensional oil painting. She uses a very particular and time-consuming technique. The head and limbs are made from Keramin (a plaster-like resilient material) that is covered with a fabric mask. Then this mask, including the eyes, is hand-painted with very fine oil paints. The body is made out of cotton that covers a metal wire structure. Her dolls have top quality mohair or human hair wigs. All of the clothing is handmade from the finest of fabrics.
